The only thing that was discussed over the phone was the new contact information and credit card on file to confirm the... appointment after waiting over 2 weeks with multiple messages left for service with no return call. We eventually called sales to get someone in service.NOTHING else was disclosed as you mentioned with your response. If we knew you would be charging 500 just for diagnostics, we would have went to another Carrier HVAC dealer to do the repairs. Charging 250$ for travel to our home is ridiculous.No estimates were never given before and after diagnostics. Just the bill for the visit $500 for 2 hours.--2 Year old Carrier unit broke down. Took the technician a few hours to find the problem. in the end the Carrier outdoor control board and thermostat got fried. The Parts are free but the tech did not have it. Just for troubleshooting they charged $500. That is outrageous... A Doctor does not even make that amount of money for diagnostics only.They are coming back and will charge an additional 250$ / hour charge for repairing the unit. This is highway robbery.Last time we will be calling them for repairs.There should be a fixed price for diagnostics instead of an hourly rate.The other issue is that we were NEVER informed when we requested for a service call that we would be charged for this. This is not right. This business MUST inform people of the charges that will be possible in advance and not have a CARTE BLANCHE to charge for diagnostics. Diagnostics should be a simple FLAT Rate regardless of the time spent.The tech's work was good but had to give 1 star for the excessive overcharge for diagnostics of this Carrier unit as these charges are overtly expensive just for the troubleshooting.read more

During a heat wave in Montreal the AC unit at the condo I rent unit started leaking a lot of water. It's an old Carrier... model so the list of companies able to repair it is limited. One company I called that is very good in general was backed up on service requests for about 5 weeks! I was very happy to hear that S&S could schedule me in 4 days.The technician was very professional and efficient, answered all my questions thoroughly and gave me a few tips on maintaining the unit to get the most out of it. I would split my experience in 3 parts.First was sales representative (Stephane) and he was very good. He even... proposed me a solution that is more expensive but with very attractive financial solution. Excelent work.Than, the installation team did very professional job. They were planned the visit one month in advance so I was able to plan others renovations that I scheduled at the same period of time. During installation itself, they respected all my recommendations and requests and worked very fast and clean. I really liked it.Finally, I had some bad experience getting the information and correct documents that I needed to get the finance for renovation project. It wasn't the good experience but finally they were able to fix it. This is the only reason I put 3 start (initially I put only 1 star just because of my frustration).I would prefer to keep 3 stars just to make sure that their customer service remembers that client satisfaction is not only sales and installation.read more

I have been extremely happy with this company from the beginning. Their sales rep Stéphane was very responsive and... helpful, their technical team was very professional and courteous, and the post-sales service has been impeccable. They even discouraged me today from doing additional work that would have proved unnecessary. My wife wanted to move an AC unit that they had installed last week. She wanted to move it to a different spot inside of the same room to improve air circulation, but the technicians indicated that this would not change anything given the small size of the room. They were already at our home with the whole team and could have generated additional revenue for doing additional work, but instead they devoted a lot of time to explain to us in detail why moving the AC unit wasn’t necessary. To me, this shows that they really take their clients to heart and do everything to do what’s best for their clients, and this even after the contract is signed and the installation is completed. I give them my highest recommendation.Update 5 years later: Axel came for the yearly spring maintenance, and I was very happy with his professional and kind service. Not only did he do the maintenance, but he also did repairs and replaced several items free of charge. Thank you!read more

Above and Beyond! My heat pump stopped working the day before I was supposed to leave town for vacation. I called them... up and left a message as they were not yet open for the day! The receptionist called me back as soon as they opened and scheduled a technician to pass by that same morning. The Technician was diligent and thorough and was able to fix the issue with my heat pump. He communicated well and was patient in explaining what had gone wrong. Just had a new Carrier thermopompe and furnace installed by S&S Conversions. The team that did the installation, led... by Loïc, were great. They arrived on time, Loïc explained the installation process right away, the team advised me on my options (e.g. best place to place the thermopompe) and did a great job with the installation. They were sure to make sure I was happy with all aspects of the installation. I was quite impressed with their professionalism and the quality of their work.After the installation was complete and the team were gone, I looked around inside and out. They had cleaned up everything. It was as if they had never been there.It has only been one day with our new system, but we already notice a big difference in the house. The new system is ultra quiet and the temperature seems much more stable. Our Carrier Heat pump needed a replacement after 22 years of service. We went with S&S, them being a large Carrier... dealer near us. They have been top notch from Sales(Stéphane), to pre-site survey (Yan) and to installation with the entire process done from contract to installation in about 3 weeks. The installation team led by Axel, assisted by Loïc and 2 others did the entire installation in about 7 hours. This included a brand new Infinity Greenspeed Heat pump with the furnace and a 4-zone controller. The team did an excellent job, and cleaned up everything after. UPDATE: We were promptly contacted after this post and they went out of their way to make it right, a gesture that we... very much appreciated. Thank you.Been with them since the 1990’s contacted them twice for servicing within the last 3 years both times were extremely frustrating. The last time involved, wrong parts, missed appointments, no call backs. It was finally resolved. This time, we called for servicing because our heat pump seems a little slow. Made a morning appointment. My husband waited all morning. No show, no call. Called them. They called back to say, they would be there in the afternoon. My husband and I then waited all afternoon. Called back before closing. No response. Left message. Instead of a call back, we get an email asking us to reschedule. My husband responded to the email and also left another message asking to reschedule - no response. That was nearly 2 weeks ago. BUYER BEWARE !!! BUYER BEWARE !!!Had a confirmed appointment waited the whole day. They never showed. They stop... answering phone calls at 4:00 PM. Called and another appointment to make up for the missed appointment which they say was accidentally deleted. Guaranteed me a time between 8am and 9am so I would t have to wait all day. Again, never showed up. When I called they said they said bumped me to a later time without calling and I was not available or home at that time. So how would I know ?. Gave me an appointment for the afternoon. I canceled my afternoon work and personal appointments. Then they called back and said they would technician immediately, too late though I cancelled myother appointments. Charged me full price for 10 mis work 285$. Lost two days of work. The are a Generac subcontractor. I would never use them again. Will let Generac know about this subcontractor.The technician himself was kind and polite. I think he was embarrassed or just felt bad. BUYER BEWARE. Imagine if I needed them for real service.UPDATE: Received a call from the service manager who refunded have the service charge and apologized for me to lose two days waiting for them. I accept the apology however I would not risk using them again myself. When a person loses two days dues to billing error it costs the company barely anything however to a person the cost far more extensive.I’m reference to the below. I absolutely do not recommend S&C Conversions. I called the service department to replace the air conditioner fan... motor. The technician removed the motor-fan assembly and took it to the company workshop. Christina from the service department writes to us that Carrier has discontinued this part (fan-motor assembly) and that there is no solution other than to replace the entire air conditioning system. We took the part back and replaced the engine at an engine distributor. Now S&C refuses to reinstall the part. We paid S&C for the first service and we are willing to pay for the reinstallation. But S&C doesn't want to know and their last concern is customer satisfaction. I really don't understand how S&C claims they are Carrier certified.read more

We recently needed to replace our existing oil tank. Rather than continuing to maintain a dual energy heating and oil... fired hot water systems soon to be obsolete, we opted to convert to all-electric systems and chose S&S Conversions to carry out the work. A knowlegable S&S sales representative helped us to choose the heat pump best suited to our needs and arranged for the installation to be carried out. A week prior to the installation date a technician came by and did a thorough survey of our existing heating and hot water systems as well as our electrical service panel. Early morning on installation day, a team arrived to decommission the exisiting heating/ hot water systems, empty and remove the oil tank and exterior oil filling pipe and seal the breach left in the foundation wall. The installation team then installed the new heat-pump and electric water heater. The installation process would have completed by early afternoon if not for an unfortunate power failure in our neighbourhood lasting several hours, which prevented them from finishing that day. However a techncian was dispatched early next day to complete the final testing and activation and also walked us through the operation of the new systems.We were very impressed with the service provided during the sales and installation processes and especially the attention to detail of the installation crew. It was truly a turnkey process from beginning to end. So far we are pleased with the operation of the heat pump; it is much quieter than the system it replaced and seems to maintain a more consistent temperature throughout the house as well.All in all, we were quite happy with the choice of S&S Conversions to carry out this project.read more

Their technicians are professional, telephone operators are courteous - this has been the case with this company for... nearly 10 years.My most recent experience was "initially" not very positive. The first diagnosis of our heat pump was not accurate, and it took 3 weeks until it was found that the entire unit had to be replaced. Living through the heat wave without A/C in July was not a pleasant experience.Yet, once the problem was clarified, the company did the best and everything they could do to accelerate their work for improving our living condition. BE VERY CAREFUL AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH S&S CONVERSATIONS!!!! We had a unit installed with them... a few years back where we had received an extended warranty for 10 years on parts and 7 years on labor. This warranty is contingent on us performing annual maintenance on the unit which we have no issues doing. The reason why we are scoring them so low is the following. We had an annual maintenance completed last year and the technician spent 30 minutes at our place and simply sprayed the unit with a Spray Nine cleaner and also cleaned the filters, something I could have done myself yet they charged us over $200 for that. They didn't even use a jet pressure washer like other companies do. I called for this year's maintenance which is now 20% more than last year and they refuse to accept accountability or provide any sort of credit, instead they are argumentative with me and provide misinformation everytime I speak with them. Both their representatives Steve and Patricia lack customer service skills. I inquired with Carrier Canada about switching to another Carrier dealer for my maintenance, although the issue is that if I do so, I lose my extended warranty for labor so basically I am handicapped and forced to do business with them not only to maintain my warranty but for annual maintenance calls as much as I may not be pleased with their service. As such do your homework because if you purchase from here, you are stuck for the duration of your warranty period. There are many other companies that are rated high like Excel Climatisation so look around before contacting S&S Conversion.read more

I recently had a heat pump and new furnace installed. The service has been exemplary. All the tecnicians have been... professional and respectful. My location is quite a distance from Montreal, but that has not caused any issues at all. I have needed a few small adjustments which have been taken care of quickly and efficiently.
